05/23/26: KOM III "Malibu’s Most Wanted"
One thing that makes Adobo Velo special is that our leadership doesn’t just organize rides from behind the scenes, they ride alongside the community.
AV President Deo, Treasurer Ken, and Chapter Directors Alex, Allan, Arvin, Robert, Gustavo and RJ are all participating in the KOM Challenge and putting in the work as volunteers too.
These are leaders who genuinely love riding their bikes. They’re balancing family, work, responsibilities, club duties, and still showing up to challenge themselves on the bike and support Adobo Velo.
Proud of our leadership team for continuing to lead from the front and represent what AV is all about.

Congratulations to Juan Pablo "JP" Bautista, the Overall First Finisher of the 2026 Adobo Velo KOM Challenge!
JP delivered an incredible performance across all three stages, finishing first on every stage and setting the standard from start to finish. His strength, consistency, and humble attitude truly stood out throughout the entire challenge.
JP is also inspiring the young (and old) guns of AV. You can see them pushing themselves to another level. More importantly, he’s showing that hard work, consistency, dedication, and passion for the bike truly pay off.
We’re proud to have JP as part of the Adobo Velo community. Originally from Colombia, he shared during our quick interview at Pedal & Pints how he got started in cycling and the journey that shaped him into the rider he is today. Stories like his are what make this community special.

A huge congratulations to Gus Esparza from AVCC, the 2nd finisher of KOM Challenge Stage 3, crossing the line in an incredible 6 hours and 22 minutes.
It was special watching Gus and JP push each other in friendly competition throughout the challenge. After JP made his move up Latigo, Gus answered with a huge effort of his own, earning a Strava PR up the legendary 9-mile climb and another PR on Encinal.
The true meaning of competition comes from the Latin “competere” which means "to strive together". That spirit was alive all day as two strong riders brought out the best in one another and inspired everyone around them.
Gus showed strength, grit, consistency, and heart from start to finish. An unforgettable ride and powerful example of how community can bring out your best. Congratulations, Gus!

A huge congratulations to Elvis Rowe of AVLV, the 3rd finisher of KOM Challenge Stage 3, with an impressive finishing time of 7 hours and 3 minutes.
Elvis made the long drive from Las Vegas to take on Malibu’s Most Wanted, and it meant a lot to have the approval of someone who organizes epic rides of his own for AVLV.
Elvis delivered a massive performance on the bike, including a Strava power PR of 334 watts for 15 minutes. But beyond the numbers, riders know Elvis for something even greater, his selfless strength. You’ll usually find him at the front, breaking the wind for the group, setting the pace, and helping others ride stronger. Around the bunch, he’s known as “the best wheel ever,” and anyone who has ridden behind him understands why.
Strong legs, strong spirit, and always there for fellow riders. Congratulations, Elvis, on an unforgettable ride

Huge congratulations to Arvin Poblete of AVRC, our Lanterne Rouge of Stage 3. After an epic day in the saddle, he rolled in 12 hours later to a warm welcome from excited AV riders and volunteers waiting for him at the finish.
That final climb up Potrero became his hilltop to remember. After climbing the most elevation he's ever riden, it was still 8 more miles to the finish line and he just kept going. What once felt impossible became reality through the courage to try, the determination to keep moving forward, and the support of the Adobo Velo family.
This is what the AV KOM Challenge is about. Supporting each other in the good times and the hard times. Celebrating not just speed, but heart, grit, and perseverance.

Big shoutout to the AV KOM Challenge Stage 2 first finisher, Juan Pablo!
JP finished the 95 mile, 10K course in 6 hours 9 minutes! He arrived at Mcadams park at 12:15p. JP was also the first finisher of Stage 1, finishing the Lobster in just over 7 hours. Congratulations JP!!! |

The Stage #1 Kambing of the Mountains (KOM) challenge, 100 miles with a 10,000ft+ elevation gain, was a huge success for Adobo Velo members! Everyone who finished hit a big milestone, and even those who just tried showed determination in challenging themselves kudos to you. Big thanks to Joey Ducut for leading the way, President Deo Punongbayan , the BODs, and all the amazing volunteers who made it happen! We had 100% attendance from the first to the last finisher. Congrats, Adobo Bros/Sis!. Rest and recover Stage #2 is coming up! |
