KOM 1 - lobster ride: 03/21/26
|
Stage 1, the "Lobster" is fast approaching!
45-55 miles with 5-6,000 feet of elevation gain is this weeks goal. We’re entering the most important block of training. The next two weeks should be the heaviest in terms of workload and specificity. Longer efforts. More focused intensity. Dialing in pacing. Dialing in mindset. Then comes the taper week, where we freshen up, and let the fitness show. A few reminders: 1. Fuel your long rides like it matters because it WILL make the difference. If you’re riding 3-5+ hours, you shouldn't be “seeing how long you can last.” Practice the day of the KOM fueling. Carbs in the bottles. Snacks. Gels. Real food. Electrolytes. Eat before you’re hungry. Drink before you’re thirsty. Under-fueling now doesn’t make you tougher, it just limits adaptation and recovery. We will have leap frog SAG support roughly every 20 miles and a mid-ride lunch stop to keep you fueled and hydrated. 2. Practice the start time. KOM rolls at 6:00 a.m. Give your body and mind time to acclimate. Practice your pre-ride routine. Practice your breakfast timing. Practice rolling out at 6 a.m. sharp. Your routine on March 21 should feel familiar, not shocking. 3. Train with intension and stay realistic with your goals. The KOM is not a race against other riders. It is a personal challenge that gives you an opportunity to give your best effort toward something meaningful, you! Some of you are building toward a PR. Some of you are aiming to finish strong. Some of you are simply showing up to prove you can. All of it counts. After these next two weeks, we taper. Trust the process. This is where consistency pays off. Stay disciplined. Stay fueled. Show up ready. You are doing great Adobo Velo riders! |
